ONE NIGHT IN CROWFORD (THE GHOSTS OF CROWFORD)

The year is 1990. On the last day of school before Christmas, Danny Slater finds himself being pursued through the snowy streets by a gang of bullies. He takes refuge in a block of public toilets in the centre of Crowford, but he soon realises that he's not alone.

People in Crowford are used to finding ghosts in rundown old buildings and spooky houses, but do the undead really linger somewhere as bland and unthreatening as the local toilets?

More than one hundred years earlier, these toilets didn't exist. Instead, this part of Crowford was home to the slums, where the poorest of the poor eked out their miserable lives in filth and squalor. For Arthur and Annie Yardsley, food was hard to come by and water from the local pumps often carried deadly diseases. When Arthur ended up being dragged away from the town, Annie's fight for survival became even tougher.

Over the following century and a half, this one small patch of land in Crowford sees many changes. People and buildings come and go, and slowly one of the town's most unusual hauntings begins to settle in. And by the time Danny Slater seeks sanctuary on a snowy night in 1990, the scene is set for a terrifying encounter that will change the town forever.

One Night in Crowford is another stand-alone book in the long-running Ghosts of Crowford series, about a spooky English town where the ghosts outnumber the living and nothing is ever quite what it seems.
